Hitting High Notes in Learning Enhancing the Learning Journey

A cornerstone initiative within the NextGeneSIS Programme, the Identity Verification Services (IVS) project harnesses AI-powered technology to streamline the Non-Graduate Programme admission process, significantly enhancing user experience and operational efficiency. Currently, when applicants scan their passports, the system employs Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to automatically verify and populate personal information into the application form. We have further enhanced IVS to introduce an innovative approach during the onboarding process, enabling students to take a selfie that the system can match against their portrait and passport photos for verification. By addressing existing challenges and pain points, not only has the admissions process been transformed, it also sets the stage for implementation across the university, further solidifying NUS’ standing as a global leader in higher education.
