Staff Development

Competency Framework

The Competency Framework is a pivotal initiative dedicated to the development and advancement of staff. Specially developed for all NUS IT staff, it outlines the core and functional competencies for each job role, along with the associated proficiency levels for success. This framework empowers our staff to purposefully chart their career paths and actively manage their professional development. Designed to foster continuous learning, the framework aids staff in identifying areas for upskilling and seizing tailored training and development opportunities. For instance, this year saw the roll-out of Business English communication training for NUS IT staff across all levels, conducted by the British Council. Through the Competency Framework, NUS IT is committed to nurturing talent and cultivating a conscious culture of excellence. This ensures that our staff are not only equipped to meet today’s challenges but are also poised to lead in the future.

Townhall Townhall meetings are essential for fostering a sense of collective purpose within an organisation. At NUS IT, teams take turns hosting these dynamic sessions, collaborating with leadership to craft engaging agendas, showcase achievements, and share exciting project updates. These gatherings also provide a fantastic opportunity for colleagues to mingle and strengthen bonds. Occasionally, we invite distinguished guest speakers to inspire us. This year, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Tok Wee Hyong, an NUS alumnus and Microsoft expert, who dazzled us with his insights on the rapidly evolving field of generative AI.
