It is my honour and privilege to present the 2025 Report Card, Threads of Tomorrow: Weaving the Future Together . This theme eloquently captures our core belief at NUS IT – that every idea, skill and partnership is a vibrant thread in the tapestry we are weaving. Individually, each thread is unique and when interlaced with purpose and unity, they form a fabric of resilience, innovation, agility, and service excellence that defines our collective identity. Each thread is a testament of our people and our shared ambition; advancing digital transformation, scaling new frontiers in research, fortifying our cybersecurity posture, and delivering user experiences that matter. This year, our strides in AI, anchored by AI-Know, NUS’ central AI platform, have empowered our community to work smarter, innovate with greater speed, and unlock new possibilities. AI-Know has become integral to infusing intelligence into every aspect of our operations securely.

“We use AI-Chat in our daily work to get a quick, high-level read on the data we collect. Because our work involves collaborating with many stakeholders across the University, we are often supporting domains where we are not the subject-matter experts. When departments share large datasets, we run them through AI-Chat to gain a fast, layman friendly understanding of what the data captures. This helps us sense what the numbers are saying before we dive into detailed analysis.” Eng Hong, Senior Manager, Office of the President Discover how AI-Know has become an everyday companion in helping our people work smarter and better. AI-Know
“AI-Chat has become my go-to assistant whenever I need clarity. Whether it is rephrasing sentences, checking definitions, gauging the pros and cons of different methods and approaches, or even demystifying Excel functions, it gives me quick, accurate answers that save time and make my work so much smoother!” Lionel Yap, Senior Safety & Health Manager, Office of Risk Management and Compliance
AI-to-the-Core | 23
“I primarily use AI-Know’s AI-Chat for general inquiries and AI-Minute for meeting minutes, and they’ve been more accurate than other platform’s AI for minute-taking. While there are occasional minor errors and I still keep my own notes, these tools have saved me a lot of time, so I find it really reliable!” Kew Jun Wei, Senior Executive, Global Relations Office
“AI-Know enabled my team to pilot a secure, interactive AI chatbot "AskADD" to provide contextualised advice on institutional-specific promotion and tenure policies to faculty members. When implemented, this tool can save faculty time when searching for policies and offers a novel paradigm for academic career support. I express deep gratitude to the University and the Digital Enablement and AI teams for providing world-class resources and support to faculty, staff, and students to drive innovations in research and education” Yeo May May, Assistant Professor and Deputy Director, Appointments and Development Department, Office of Academic Medicine
“I primarily use AI-Guide for policy reference and guidance. In my role, which involves managing AP matters, I depend on AI-Know to stay informed about finance policies. For instance, when a colleague was traveling overseas for work, apart from reaching out to the respective personnel, I was able to swiftly access the relevant information on staff eligibility and coverage, and share the official resource link with them from using AI-Know. Overall, AI-Know has become a valuable tool in my daily tasks, and my colleagues also find it highly convenient for accessing NUS-related information.” Praveena D/O Singara Velu, Senior Executive, Division of Graduate Medical Studies

The NUS journey begins the moment students apply. This year, that first step became smoother, more intuitive and more reassuring with the enhanced University Admissions System 2 (UAS2) and the Graduate Admission System 3 (GDA3). UAS2 changes tasks that previously required multiple logins, scattered forms and manual checks to now go through a single, unified workflow. It provides undergraduate students with secure authentication and cleaner interfaces. An AI assistant built into selected forms offers instant guidance to aid faster decision-making while the connected backend systems quietly handle the complex work. Similarly, graduate applicants enjoy the same seamlessness through GDA3, which consolidates submissions, status tracking and offer acceptance into one polished space. New verification features powered by Parchment - a global credential management platform - strengthen the credibility of applications while keeping the process fast and interruption-free. Improvements now extend to student onboarding. Previously, registration involved separate, email-triggered steps that could take days or even weeks. Today, a fully digital experience, powered by uNivUS and NUSHub, completes every step in one place within a day, offering students a faster, clearer start to their NUS journey.
“Transforming an institution-wide system was fostered by strong cross-department collaboration that enabled us to overcome challenges and drive the platform’s success. The recognition as a Gartner case study reaffirmed NUS’s position as a digital leader in higher education and validated the efforts of our teams!” - Ms Tan Shui-Min, Chief IT Officer, NUS Admissions & Onboarding: First Click, First Connection.
