Outlook People Finder In a large organisation like NUS, with over 50,000 staff and students, it can be challenging to find specific contacts since there is a likelihood of multiple contacts with similar or identical names, causing confusion and inefficiencies. To address these challenges, NUS IT proactively developed its own customised contact management solution known as the Outlook People Finder and deployed it in June 2023. This innovative Outlook Add-in streamlines contact search processes, significantly enhancing efficiency.

This was achieved by building an interface with CHRS (Cloud HR System), NUS’ online platform solution for HR and payroll functions. This allowed People Finder to extract first, last and full names of individuals, optimising the search experience. With this solution, NUS staff and students can now search for contacts within specific departments, schools, and faculties. Search results display comprehensive contact information, effectively eliminating any potential confusion arising from individuals sharing similar or identical names.

People Finder also makes it very easy and allows user to quick send or even make a Zoom call to that person. This project exemplifies the resourcefulness and dedication of NUS IT in enhancing the digital workspace for our staff and students , facilitating smoother communication and information retrieval within the University.
