The second edition of the DE’Hackathon, themed “Unlocking AI in NUS”, returned this year, fostering creativity and innovation among NUS staff. Organised by NUS IT, the hackathon encouraged cross departmental collaboration to develop AI-driven solutions addressing real-life challenges and enhancing work processes. Held from 8 to 12 July, the event culminated in the DE’Hackathon Awards Ceremony, where 11 teams showcased their innovative solutions. Notably, four teams included members from three different departments, and one team even had members from five departments! The awards ceremony, graced by Guest-of-Honour NUS President Professor Tan Eng Chye, featured prizes for the top three teams and special awards for outstanding departmental and faculty participation, which were won by the Office of the President and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, respectively. In his closing speech, Professor Tan emphasised AI’s critical role in driving the university’s future initiatives.
